The Future Of Streaming

How It Works

Full screen HD

Let's face it. It doesn't take a genius to know that, given a choice, people prefer higher quality over grainy low quality videos. Who wouldn't prefer to watch online video in gorgeous 720p?

Cost dilemma (for the other guys)

The problem (as is so often the case in life) is that full screen HD streaming delivered over the web comes at a price. A higher quality picture requires the delivery of a larger number of bits and bytes, which requires more bandwidth, which costs more money. The usual suspects in the online video space have reacted tentatively, testing HD galleries with limited content, or launching "high quality" features that can hardly be called true HD.

Introducing HD powered by P2P

Vuze brings a unique approach to the problem - HD streaming powered by peer-to-peer. The power of Vuze lies in our peer-to-peer (P2P) platform for efficiently delivering stunning HD video over the Internet using bittorrent technology. We've been watching the streaming space for quite awhile, and thinking through how to combine Vuze P2P technology with some emerging web delivery technologies to change the game in online video streaming.

Does this mean we're focusing less on the Vuze app? Not a chance. We'll focus less on downloading as soon as Apple abandons iTunes (dare you to start that rumor). Streaming and downloading are not "either / or" delivery technologies. In some cases, users prefer the ease and instant gratification of streaming. In other cases (devices, lower bandwidth, content availability), users prefer downloading. Vuze will leverage its peer-to-peer platform in delivering innovative solutions for both downloading and streaming.
