About Me:
I was born in Würzburg, Germany. I worked as a tax collector for several years before deciding to follow my passion for movies: I quit my job to study Film Studies at the Johannes Gutenberg-University in Mainz, Germany. There I studied the aesthetics, history and theory of film which constitutes the theoretical foundation of my work as a filmmaker and editor.
In 2005/2006 I studied Telecommunications at Ball State University, Muncie, IN, USA, where I took part in digital film making, production, and directing classes. Since then I have directed and edited seven short films, and I have also worked as an editor on several other short film projects (see Filmography) and anything else I could get my hands on: wedding videos, music videos, travel videos, home videos.
Editing is my passion. I have a great visual memory and a strong sense of rhythm, pacing and storytelling which is equally driven by intuition and my theoretical background in film studies. I try to work from both a technical and an emotional perspective.
I graduated in Germany with a masters in Film Studies in July 2007, and have since moved to L.A. to pursue my version of the American Dream by trying to become a professional editor.
In January/February 2008 I took part in the annual American Cinema Editors’ internship program. I spent a week each with Randy Morgan, A.C.E. on “Law & Order”, Christopher Rouse, A.C.E. on “The Green Zone”, and Sabrina Plisco, A.C.E. on “Beverly Hills Chihuahua”. Spending time in the editing room with these amazingly talented editors and their great assistant editors inspired me and deepened my wish to pursue a career in editing.
Currently I am working as an Assistant Editor at Alpha Dogs, a post-house in Burbank, CA.
