Vienna is the capital of Austria, and also one of the nine states of Austria. It is the primary city with a population of 2.3 million in the metropolitan area and is by far the largest city in Austria for culture, economy, and of course the political centre. As the tenth largest city in the European Union, it has long tradition of art and culture including theatre, opera, classical music and fine arts. The Burgtheater is one of the biggest German-speaking threatres, alongside Akademietheater. It is also the home of many opera houses including Staatsoer and Volksoper. The Hofburg, Kunsthistorisches and Naturhistorisches are some of the amazing museums Vienna has to offer.
