The prevailing global-warming view is that man-made emissions of carbon dioxide are largely responsible. This film, featuring leading academics in fields such as climatology, oceanography, meteorology and biogeography, questions the science behind the accepted reasons for global warming and argues that other explanations ? including the effect of the sun?s radiation on the atmosphere ? are not being properly aired. It also asserts that the single-minded focus on reducing carbon emissions might have the unintended consequence of stifling development in the Third World, prolonging endemic poverty and disease.?

unsub ( 2 months ago on Apr 27, 2008 04:49 GMT)

well, what can I say?
It took decades to convince a lot of people that the world wasn't flat.
For those that are very impressed with the fact that an MIT department head was in this film, you should be aware that he himself was very unhappy with this film. He said that "that he strongly disagrees with the film's conclusions and the way his interview material was used".
You be the judge. Look at the so called "scientific" institutes that their experts have worked for. Look into the funding of the film. Compare it to nearly every single peer reviewed scientific journal; and then make your choice whether to believe those with vested interests instead of the overwhelming evidence.
It's common sense mostly. Make intelligent choices.

thumb up To all the nay-sayers of this movie...
karmalized ( 4 months ago on Feb 17, 2008 07:41 GMT)

To all those who say this movie is false and motivated by the Oil industries and worl banks... The people who make up this movie, who star in it, and speak throughout ARE scientists!. They are not actors, or policiticians (like Al Gore). These people are the departments heads of M.I.T. and other world renowned science organizations. The facts they give are their own, often found after a lifetime of reasearch.
They do not speak for others, like the IPCC do, and they present just one view of horribly complex concept of world weather.

I can not believe some people would have a problem understanding that the Sun and the Atmosphere would be the leading cause and any type of climate change on earth. Doesn't anyone remember when the the "Enviromental movement" told us we were creating a whole in the Ozone layers above the artic and Ant-artic? Where are these people now that their scientists have proven those wholes existed for the lifetime of the earth, and have shrunken and expanded several times and things seem to be normal.

To those that haven't seen this movie, give it a shot. Watch with an open mind and do not feel that this movie is trying to explain everything. They are just trying to cut through some of the red-tape which seems to be ther current state of the modern environmental movement.

It's unfortunate that you have liberals socialists who would force people to suffer just to feel better about themselves.

thumb down Be a scientist. Decide for yourself!
Inimbrium ( 8 months ago on Sep 30, 2007 09:49 GMT)

Don't let others tell you what to think. Don't listen to twisted facts and figures. So figure it out for youself!

Everyone has the intelligence to be a scientist. You don't need a degree to know that the simple facts that not even the biggest skeptics will disagree with.
So with a big of logic the truth comes out:
-The global temperature is rising. Fact.
-Carbon Dioxide is a greenhouse gas. Fact.
-We are producing more Carbon Dioxide than all the natural processes put together. Fact.

And here comes the logic:
Increase in Carbon Dioxide in the atmosphere = an increase in the greenhouse effect = increase in average temperature.

Better yet, don't listen to me. Do some basic research and come up with your own conclusion!

thumb up Acanthophis Gore
Squamata ( 1 year ago on May 13, 2007 04:19 GMT)

Gore and his followers never answer the primary questions, " How do we contribute to warming on other planets?" "If we all not only stopped driving, building and flying but even stopped breathing the Co2 would only drop a small fraction, so why focus on us, unless population control is truly your agenda?"
" Why is it that when the other side (such as the makers of this film) voice their opinion their funding is questioned yet no one questions Al Gore?"
Also, " How come no one who agrees with Kyoto actually meet it's standards? Aren't Carbon Credit purchases hypocrisy?"

I recommend everyone to watch this documentary. For non experts like me it just makes clear that there are as many reasons and interests for the supporters of the climate change due to greenhouse gases as there are for those claiming its cause by other factors.
At the end it all comes down to noticing that " making people feel FEAR its usually a sign of someone trying to pull our strings for its own benefit" it happened before in history is that happenning now? what makes the most sense?.

thumb up An awful truth
Pachang ( 1 year ago on Apr 17, 2007 05:09 GMT)

There is some misrepresentation in this film with one of the graphs and volcanoes shown to be a greater source of CO2 than humans. That aside, all the conclusions that this film makes are failry accurate (DEFINATLY more accurate than "An inconvient Truth" ). Environmentalisim seems to be some sort of secular religion that has an ever growing grasp on the media. This film demonstrates how totally irrational climate change due to humans and the environmental movement in general is. I can not believe that one of the commentors below me talks of "the world Bank" as having some sinister vested interest in de-ephasising Climate change other than to help the worlds poor... "they don't care about the third world!" of course they do idiot, thats their job.

This film is truely a triumph for humanisim agaist the "anti-human" mainstream environmentalists.

For a movie centered closer to this you should watch "Mine Your Own Business" http://www.mineyourownbusiness.org/.

And for a comparrison between the importance of climate change and world poverty you should watch http://www.vuze.com/details/HJP4TZSCU3UGCKJJW2NP7SCQCKZUZQNH.html

Thanks for making this available to us...5 stars

thumb up A true reality
Q ( 1 year ago on Apr 15, 2007 06:25 GMT)

It is obvious that the comments posted previously stem from the leftist controlled media. The media is a firestorm that spreads anything concerning death and decestation with intense conviction. This is the only real counter to Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth". The difference here is, that there are countless scientists and professors backing up their claims as opposed to Al Gore's personal feelings and intuitions.

Excellent film. 5 stars

thumb up Very interesting
John Reilly ( 1 year ago on Apr 6, 2007 08:51 GMT)

This was well worth watching. I'd love to see verification and more detail of some of the things mentioned in it.

Is it really possible that the wool has been pulled over all of our eyes? The idea that it is actually the sun that is effecting the climate and CO2 levels rather than CO2 levels effecting the climate is very compelling.

Update (2007/04/06): I've just read some commentary on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Great_Global_Warming_Swindle about this video. It claims that some of the graphs that were used were falsified and/or misrepresented.

thumb down Propaganda!
Curly ( 1 year ago on Mar 25, 2007 06:26 GMT)

The people of this world have no idea how unscrupulous the vested interests of the oil companies, major corporations, the World Bank, etc., are. Who are they kidding? They don't care about the people of the third world!

This video is a good example of how low they will go (and how far they will go, and how much money they will spend) to defend their selfish, immoral aims.

bhava ( 1 year ago on Mar 25, 2007 06:15 GMT)

Amazing! Some nerve these zombies have, trying to refute the consistent findings of practically every intelligent and TRUE scientist on the planet. You can bet your bottom dollar that the so-called experts who made this unscrupulous bit of propaganda -- people who are willing to sell the entire planet, and all of humanity, down the river for cash -- are being paid handsomely for their lack of honesty and integrity. Historically sad job, fellas!

thumb down BS data
Katana ( 1 year ago on Mar 24, 2007 12:25 GMT)

I've seen comparison photos...these people used their own "idealized" graphs of just about everything. They're funded by major oil companies and greedy industries. Inconvenient Truth compelled me...THIS DID NOT. Please don't fall for it, they just put it in a documentary to make it look better.
