Character Modeling for Games Video 3 - Creating a Base Model
This is the third (although, the first released) video in my series of video lessons teaching people how to create a video game model. This video deals with creating a base model to sculpt upon. The video is a bit over an hour and 4 minutes long. As time goes by I'll be releasing the other videos.
The video was encoded using XviD, so you'll need the XviD codec to be able to play the video.
Hope you enjoy!
The other videos are viewable by clicking on my username, or by searching “Character Modeling for Games.”

Proves that all these "Intro to 3D Modeling" courses in colleges are for lower than average IQ people. Just follow this video tutorial, and you will have all or even more than the knowlege an entire course could give you!
I recommend this to any beginning character modeler. The workflow demonstrated is very good, descriptive, and percise. And if something is unclear (its very fast - lots of material) just move the video slider back and watch it until you grasp it.
1-plz tell me how to use the symmetry modifier, i did it like you but ther was problems ( creat a box, split it , use symmetry , choose x , move it ) and when i click into editable poly it cames back to the half of the box

how long inbetween vieo releases
I think your videos are great and cant tell you how much they are helping everyone out there. For a long time this kind of stuff is not released on the net. I guess for a number of reasons, its hard, so hard that no one wants to tell how to do it, plus maybe some people dont know how to teach. But you have seemed to nail it pretty good. Keep Up the good work!!
By the way I like your other videos. Keep em coming if you have time!!
Oh one more thing. In this video you think we will get bored with your adjusting things. I keep having to rewind an play.. because its going too fast through the VERY important parts of making a base model. You should have left the torso part normal speed. (just a helper thought)
@Jedipottsy: I don't currently have a website, but I plan on making one soon. Probably before I finish the vid tuts.
@Lord_Avatar1301: To rotate it to the very middle you right click on the gizmos at the bottom.
@ Lord_Avatar1301: You go to file>export. You have to choose *.obj from the dropdown list. Then you can simply open the *.obj in mudbox.
I'm in the process of making the second video as we speak. This video covers the methods I use in this video. So if there is something you don't understand, name where you are in the video (say 10:34 minutes into it) and I will include that in the second video.
I want to make sure to cover everything, so nothing is left unexplained.
The site where I bought the images is 3d.sk
Thanks for your input!
Do you have a website?
How do you change were the x,y and z axiz is?
And how the F@&# do i rotate the 3D image like you do? It drives me crazy, because it won't do what i want? :P
but else, THANKS!
