Basshunter aka Jonas Altberg was born 1984 in Halmstad, Sweden. He describes himself as a stubborn and creative person. He started to produce music in 1999 with the computer program "Fruityloops". After many demos spread over the Internet, he started to get phone calls from clubs who wanted him to deejay.

In April 2006, Altberg got his first real contact to the music industry when signed a record deal with Warner Music. He released his first single "Boten Anna" in Scandinavia and it became an instant hit. In late 2007, Altberg released a re-recording of "Boten Anna", titled "Now You're Gone", featuring entirely rewritten lyrics to appeal to a foreign market. "Gone" hit number one on the UK Singles Chart, in January 2008 and stayed there for 5 weeks.
