VLC is a good MKV player, don't forget to choose a 16/9 aspect ratio in the setup menu.
The Ryoan-ji temple in Kyoto has the most known dry garden. You can stay more than one hour and you don't understand why, because there are litle thigs to see; this is the Zen meditation.
The same day we could visit the Ninna-ji temple and see monks. In both cases we were impressed by many beautiful red mapple trees.
