Marin Marais wrote that piece probably after having improvised himself a few times on the bells ringing from that church in Paris : "Sainte Geneviève du mont"... The church now doesn't exist anymore, but we know now how did its bells sound when ringing... It is written for violin, gamba and cembalo...
It was recorded during a concert in Rouen.

But, unfortunately for the moment, the texts are still only in French (but music goes over that border isn't it !).
Barock violin: Jean-Claude Féret,
Viola da Gamba: Béatrice Tilloy,
Cembalo, Anne-Lise Féret

I have known Martin Marais in the french incredible movie "Tous les matins du monde". I did not know that Martin Marais was really a musician and composer. I thought that that name was used in the movie. I am so glad to have found that file and I hope to find many more. Thank you to the person who posted that audio. Gabriel
