A conservative estimate of 51 billions euros worth of gas is being extracted from Ireland by a consortium of large multinational corporations, and pumped out of the country with no obligation to sell the gas back to Ireland except for the global market rate.

As a result of censorship in the mainstream press in the Republic of Ireland many of the facts of this experimental and exploitative project are not know to the Irish people.
